Albania becomes the first country in the region where Europol will have its own office. The finalization of this long work was also hailed by former interior minister Fatmir Xhafaj, who considers it as very positive news.
Through a post on Twitter, the socialist MP praises intensive negotiations taken place over the past year, pointing to a series of joint operations.
“Very good news that the opening of Europol Liaison Office in Albania was finalized today, a process successfully achieved through intensive negotiations throughout the year.
Coupled with a number of successful joint operations, a prominent part of which was proactively initiated by the State Police,” Xhafaj said.
Meanwhile, the former minister assures that this is a step towards opening negotiations.
“This office will help strengthen cooperation between Albania’s law enforcement agencies with EU member states and a good opportunity to open negotiations.
Congratulations to the experts of the Ministry of Interior and the State Police for this positive achievement,” Xhafaj underlined. TemA
