The Southeastern Europe Security Center, chaired by leader the Albanian Republican Party Mr. Fatmir Mediu, hosted a forum on the situation and the future of Kosovo in co-operation with David Philips from “Columbia University”.
Vjosa Osmani, speaker of Kosovo’s assembly, Ramush Haradinaj, former Prime Minister of Kosovo, and other political actors of the region joined the discussion, expressing support for Kosovo’s independence and territorial integrity.
David Philips informed that many representatives of the Albanian Diaspora in America have sent a letter to President Trump asking for the preservation of Kosovo’s sovereignty.
Fatmir Mediu stressed that the geopolitical situation in the region has changed and Russia’s involvement in this discussion damages the interests of Kosovo and the region.
“Regarding other leaders, all Albanian political leaders except Prime Minister Rama have opposed the idea of land swaps,” he said.
Vjosa Osmani, speaker of Kosovo’s assembly, stressed that dialogue with Serbia turned into a secret relationship and secret deals between the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia regarding changes of borders and this has acted as a threat to regional stability.
Meanwhile, former Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj reiterated that idea for border changes was a deal made between Vucic, Rama and Thaçi, who sought the support of the United States and the European Union.
