Interior minister, Sander Lleshaj has urged State Police officials to step up their fight against criminal activities in the country. The minister made this declaration in a meeting held today with senior police officials.
The minister said that police must do more to stop people with criminal records in their tracks. Minister Lleshaj also said that more efforts should be done in fighting financial crime and informality in business.
A very important topic which was discussed in this meeting was the fight against corruption within police ranks. Noting the high number of police officers who have been arrested or who have been placed under investigation for corruption, the minister asked senior police officials to investigate every case of corruption which threatens the integrity of State Police.
