“The support of the United States for Kosovo means support for democracy. We’re not in favour of taking steps backwards as far as Kosovo’s independence is concerned. Kosovo is mature enough to act as an anchor of democracy.”
This was declared today by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Matthew Palmer during the ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of NATO intervention in Kosovo.
Palmer added that “Pristina and Belgrade must work together on behalf of all victims in order to offer a solution to the issue of missing people.
Nationalist rhetoric must be set aside, because it does not help in building a democratic country. Kosovo and Serbia will always be neighbours and they must be driven by stability, progress and security”, the US senior official said.
