EU envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak is soon expected to visit Kosovo and Serbia. In Pristina, the EU official will meet the chairman of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, whose party achieved a landslide victory on the February 14 elections. Speaking to Montenegro’s state TV, Lajcak said that the discussions with the chairman of Vetëvendosje will focus on the continuation of dialogue with Serbia.
“The situation in Kosovo will not remain the same, because we will soon have a new government and a new PM and this government will have a strong mandate. This is a new situation. I will soon visit Pristina and Belgrade. In Kosovo I shall talk to the winner of the elections, Albin Kurti about our collaboration and the continuation of dialogue,” Lajcak said.
Lead spokesperson for the external affairs of the EU, Peter Stano has also commented the issue of dialogue between the two countries by saying that the EU’s chief diplomat, Josep Borrel has made it very clear that the EU expects the new government to continue dialogue.
According to recent statements made by the chairman of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, the process of dialogue with Serbia will not be a priority of his government; however, both the EU and US have urged the leader of the winning party to consider this as a top priority. TemA
