US Department for State Special Representative for Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer speaking from the Davos summit, has once again called for political parties in Albania to solve the crisis.
According to him, “it’s important that Albania has strong democratic foundations, it’s important that elections are free and that the Albanian people can elect in a democratic way”.
Therefore, he stresses that “we would like to see a process of dialogue which would lead to an agreement about the electoral reform that reflects the recommendations of OSCE/ODIHR and leads Albanian democracy towards normality”.
The commission on the electoral reform has agreed that the electoral administration must no longer be appointed by political parties and that the Central Election Commission must also be reformed.
The proposals for the changes in the system will be ready by the end of November. TemA
