The sector of tourism is one of the hardest-hit sectors by the coronavirus pandemic and PM Edi Rama has provided some clues as to what the government is planning on doing to help this sector recover.
According to Premier Rama, the government is still looking into the possibility of easing restriction measures ahead of the start of this year’s tourist season.
“We’re trying to find a solution about the sector of tourism. It’s not an easy task. We’re discussing some ideas and we still face some dilemmas. We’re looking at other countries and what they’ll do about this and then act on it”, the PM said.
Asked about the difficult financial situation that this sector is going through with almost all bookings cancelled, the PM said that the tourist industry in Albania pays some of the lowest taxes in the region and that everything will depend on whether this sector will be opened during this season and the sort of conditions in which it will operate.
