President Ilir Meta says tourism is one of the most affected sectors by the COVID-19 pandemic and the new tourist season in the country is expected to face many difficulties, as most bookings have been cancelled.
“In a meeting I had today with tour operators, many of them told me about the difficulties that tourism is going to face this year. We need more clarity and a concrete plan which will support tourism; a plan which will mitigate the negative effects that the virus had on the economy”, the head of the state said.
The president also said that everyone has a duty to support domestic tourism so that this industry, which sustains many Albanian households, is able to survive.
According to the President, it is important to comply with specific health safety protocols tailored to accommodation, means of transport, hotels, the coast, and other areas that tourists visit. TemA
