President says govt decisions must be proportional with the crisis

Albanian President Ilir Meta has demanded the government to make an in-depth assessment of each normative act approved during the time of the cronavirus pandemic.

The head of state also called on citizens to comply with all the instructions and restrictions in force due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, as this is in everyone’s best interest.

“This way, not only we protect our health, but at the same time we help doctors and health personnel who are making sacrifices and putting themselves at risk for the health of all of us.
Meanwhile, it is important that every act of the Council of Ministers approved during this situation is subjected to an in-depth assessment in advance, in proportion to the situation that dictates the necessity of their approval. Every measure taken must be in line with the general public and national interest, and in harmony with the hierarchy of norms in force, so that the adoption of restrictive measures does not jeopardize the creation of new social and judicial conflicts,” Meta wrote.

Further, he added that the restrictive measures should be in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and the laws in force, but they must also respond only to the need and urgency to cope with the natural disaster declared by the Council of Ministers.
Meta adds that closer cooperation between citizens and institutions is the main guarantee for the most efficient coping with this pandemic for all. TeMa
