A meeting of the National Security Council was hosted today by the President, Ilir Meta through videoconference. The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Parliamentary Speaker Gramoz Ruçi, cabinet ministers in charge of the state of emergency, and the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha.
The measures taken and being taken by the government to deal with the situation in the country and to prevent further spread of the consequences of COVID-19, coping with the economic situation brought about by the spread of COVID-19, and measures taken for the return of Albanian citizens who found themselves outside the territory of the Republic of Albania amidst this situation were the topics issues discussed during the meeting.
Prime Minister Rama and government ministers briefed on the measures taken and the scenarios that the country may face, while the democrat leader, Lulzim Basha offered the views and suggestions of the opposition in dealing with the pandemic.
According to the President’s office, the meeting of the National Security Council was conducted in a very constructive and cooperative spirit, and its main purpose was the unification of all human, medical and scientific resources and capacities to effectively cope with this difficult situation in order to protect the health of every citizen, the national economy, maintain order and preserve security.
President Meta said that by being united, the country will successfully overcome this difficult situation.
