Serbia’s president, Aleksandar Vucic has met with US senators, Chris Murphy and Ron Johnson, who said that they would do everything to support dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
During the course of the meeting, the two senators said that the process of dialogue will require many compromises and sacrifices by both sides.
The two US officials have also stressed that once an agreement between the two countries is reached, benefits for the two countries will be much greater than what the two countries may lose from negotiating.
Meanwhile, the Serb president, Aleksandar Vucic told the two US senators that Belgrade is expecting authorities in Pristina to scrap the tariffs imposed on Serbian imports, while stressing that he would like to see a solution reached through compromise.
Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has been suspended since Kosovo decided to impose a tax on goods coming from Serbia since November last year in response to what authorities in Pristina considered to be an aggressive campaign launched by Belgrade against the recognition of the independence of Kosovo by other countries.
