The tourism industry in Albania has not yet come out of the crisis which was caused by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic last year. While the government’s schemes are yet to be felt in this sector, 70% of businesses operating in this sector are non-functional.
The chairman of the Association of Hotels and Tourism, Zak Topuzi says this industry is now forced to operate part-time, while operating costs continue to weigh heavily on its financial situation.
The outlook for this year too remains gloomy and experts believe that the sector will only be able to show signs of rebound in 2022.
Meanwhile, representatives of this sector say that the government’s support compared to the support given in other countries of the region, is almost non-existent. They demand a relief package as soon as possible. TemA
