Zimbabwe’s former president Mugabe dies aged 95

Robert Mugabe, former president and first post-independence leader of Zimbabwe has died at the age of 95 in a hospital in Singapore after battling ill health.

The former leader was removed from power in November 2017 following a military coup and this put an end to a three -decade reign.

Mugabe spent more than a decade in prison after criticizing the government of what was then Rhodesia in 1964.

In 1973, while he was still in prison, Mugabe was chosen as president of the Zimbabwe African National Union, of which he was a founding member. TemA
