Një ligjvënës republikan që refuzonte rregullisht të vishte maskën gjatë punimeve të Kongresit dhe kishte qenë edhe në Teksas me presidentin amerikan, Donald Trump, rezultoi pozitiv për koronavirusin, konfirmoi vetë ai.
”Louie Gohmert rezulton pozitiv”, raportoi ”Politico”, duke cituar burime të shumta.
Gohmert më vonë konfirmoi se ai pati një test të shpejtë gjatë hyrjes në Shtëpinë e Bardhë, të mërkurën, që rezultoi pozitiv, dhe një tjetër test më vonë që ishte gjithashtu pozitiv.
”Jam asimptomatik, por me sa duket unë kam virusin Wuhan”, tha ai duke përdorur një term që Trump thoshte për të përshkruar virusin që u zbulua për herë të parë në qytetin kinez Wuhan.
Të paktën shtatë ligjvënës të tjerë në Shtëpinë e Bardhë dhe Senat kanë rezultuar pozitiv deri më tani, së bashku me të paktën tre persona që kanë punuar në Shtëpinë e Bardhë.

Gohmert was born in Pittsburg, Texas, the son of Mary Sue (née Brooks) and Louis Buller Gohmert. Gohmert was raised in Mount Pleasant, Texas, where he graduated from the local high school in 1971.[3]
He enrolled in Texas A&M University, receiving U.S. Army scholarship and earning a B.A. in history in 1975.[4] Gohmert commanded a cadet brigade in the Corps of Cadets and served as class president.[5] He was also a student leader for the MSC Student Conference on National Affairs alongside future fellow Congressman Chet Edwards, and a member of the Ross Volunteer Company.[6]
Gohmert received a Juris Doctor degree from Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas in 1977, where he was also class president.[7][failed verification]
