The official Paris has called for calmness and dialogue a day ahead of the upcoming protest of the Albanian opposition. There have been alerts that riots might happen during the protest.
In an activity undertaken in the framework of the Month of Francophonie, the Ambassador of France to Tirana, Christina Vasak appealed for dialogue.
“Democracy is supported by the political dialogue and that means dialogue between the government and the opposition, while the parliament is the natural place for this dialogue.
The bold reforms that have been taken have to continue, because they have to do with a concrete reality and with the trust that the Albanian people must have in the institutions.”
The United States and the EU have condemned the abandonment of the Assembly by the opposition in unison, while calling for dialogue to resolve the situation.
