Port authorities in Durres mount security measures for fear of coronavirus

After the death of two people in Italy infected with coronavirus, authorities in the largest port in Albania, port of Durres have mounted security measures by checking foreign passengers and foreign seamen.
This weekend, two ferries have anchored in Durres with 446 passengers on board. According to the head of the port’s quarantine, Indrid Kalaja, checks have intensified and no passengers have manifested any health problems.
Seamen working in commercial ships, which do not come from Chinese ports, are also being monitored. Dr. Kalaja says that in the recent months, ships coming mainly from Black Sea ports have arrived in Durres.
