Five ancient tombs about 4000 years old have been discovered in Egypt. Ancient, well-preserved monuments were found in Saqqara, outside the city of Cairo. They belong to the Old Kingdom era and the First Intermediate Period.
The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquity has confirmed that high courtiers, including councilors and priests, were buried there. Their rooms are decorated with paintings, while 20 sarcophagi, toys, wooden boats, masks and other artifacts were also found.
This new archaeological find came just a week after the news that the secret spaces of the Pyramid of Giza may be the secret chambers of a pharaoh's tomb. Archaeologists discovered them through a scan of the latest technology and the largest of them is 30 meters long and 6 wide. Researchers are planning a more detailed scan that is expected to shed light on the purpose of their use.
The best scenario they have is that they can lead to the secret chamber of the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu who ruled Egypt in 2251-2525 BC and may be the person for whom the famous pyramid was built.
